This baby boy at home in Tiburon was such a cutie! I had so much fun meeting him and hanging out for a couple of hours. The mom needed to postpone his newborn shoot date due to complications. Largely because of breastfeeding issues. As a mom myself who had major breastfeeding issues I totally understood and could sympathize. Also, that’s one of the reasons why I love being a lifestyle photographer. There’s no pressure to race to have photos done and feeling like you’ve missed the “sweet spot” for photos with your new baby. Because let’s face it, these little angels like to live on their own terms. I still encourage parents to schedule within the first 5-15 days after birth, but it’s nice to have flexibility for when things go unplanned.
I never bring extra blankets or any props to my newborn sessions because I like using what it theirs. It makes the photos more personal – especially down the road. It’s gives all the feelings of, “I remember that blanket/swaddle/decor” butterflies when you look back. I was digging around in their bedroom when the mom mentioned they had a plain blanket under the duvet cover. I was in love with it! Simple white with texture – my favorite. I secretly love when that happens.
Be sure to check out this couple’s maternity photos as well: “Beach Maternity Photos in Marin | San Francisco Lifestyle Photographer” and their second post, “Marin Headlands Maternity Photos | Bay Area Lifestyle Photographer.” So many good portraits here! We had a blast.
