Had an awesome maternity-family session in Santa Cruz with this adorable family of three with one on the way.
This family is a recent transplant from the San Francisco-Bay Area down to Santa Cruz. When they chatted with me about photographing their maternity-family session, they said they wanted photos that showcased their new beach life. So photos on the surf at sunset was a must.
Also, I was extra excited about photographing this crew for two reasons: one, the dad is the president of the D-league Warriors (he’s a big deal people!) and two, they’re great friends of ours! 🙂 I actually photographed mom’s baby bump during her first pregnancy. Feels like a million years ago, but it was only a little over two years ago. Wild how time flies!
Just like for their first child, baby gender is a surprise. Big brother thinks he’ll be getting a baby sister – maybe he has the inside track. It wasn’t that long ago he was evicted from his mama’s belly after all. 🙂
During our session, big brother was obsessed with the water. He has no fear of running into the waves. We played a game of run-and-jump with the parents lifting him up from the water so he wouldn’t get completely soaking wet and in-turn one of the parents wet from retrieving him. The water felt oddly warm that evening – maybe because I’m used to the frigid waters of San Francisco that no one in their right minds would willing jump into without a wet suit on. It was lovely and I had no issue with getting half wet taking some of these shots. But next time I’ll wear shorts instead of jeans!
I’ll be posting a handful more from this session so keep an eye out in the coming days.
