What type of photographer are you?

My work has been described as natural and artistic. I combine traditional and lifestyle maternity, newborn and family portraiture creating modern and timeless photography. You’re investing in your family history. You likely already think of your spouse and children as works of art, from the stubbled beard to your child’s lopsided smile – beautiful masterpieces. You will get a gallery full of photos from your session that can be enlarged and hung on your wall as fine art. Cause baby, we’re artsy! I’m not after perfection with everyone looking at the camera. I want to capture your connections and authentic emotions. Sure, I may get some with everyone looking and smiling but if we do, it’s because it was a natural moment. Authentic and evoking emotions, your images will be treasured for a lifetime.

What is lifestyle photography?

It’s a style of photography that focuses on real life, true moments and emotion. For maternity sessions I combine lifestyle with traditional portraiture to reflect the fantasticalism of pregnancy, you are growing a human in YOUR BODY after all. For family lifestyle I focus on the connections in a natural setting for the family. Ideally, one that has meaning or an association (example, if your family are big surfers, a beach would be perfect. Or if you consider yourself an urban dweller then let’s hit the streets of SF). For newborn lifestyle I thrive on documenting the baby in their environment with their parents and siblings. Sweet and simple without using props or tricks. If you like my style and it’s what you’re looking for, read on!

Where are you located?

I’m based in gorgeous San Francisco. I often travel throughout the Bay Area for sessions including Marin (Sausalito, Mill Valley, Fairfax etc.), East Bay (Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Orinda, Alamo, Black Hawk etc.), and South Bay (Pacifica, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo etc.). I am frequently in the Central Valley (between Sacramento and Modesto) and accept a limited number of sessions per trip, please inquire for details.

Is this your full-time job?

Yup, it is. I shoot more than 8 sessions a month which means my weekend dates get booked first – so contact me ASAP to schedule your session.

Where do sessions take place?

I’m an on-location natural light photographer. Together we choose the perfect location for your session. Newborn session are held at your home.

When do newborn sessions take place?

Newborn sessions typically take place when the baby is 1 – 2 weeks old. Because I’m a lifestyle photographer and focus on the emotion and connection there isn’t a strict timeline to follow which eliminates the stress of working your butt off to keep baby sleeping the entire session (when really, you should be the one sleeping). If your baby is past the four week mark, not to worry! Newborn sessions are good for babies up to three months old.

How do we schedule a newborn session?

Your session will be confirmed on your due date. A week prior to that, I’ll follow-up with a reminder email and ask for an update. Babies are on their own timeline! I leave room on my calendar before and after your due date. After baby is born, shoot me an email and we’ll confirm a date/time.

What should I/we wear?

See my Pinterest board for ideas and inspiration. Be comfortable and yourself. Remember, what looks good in photos aren’t necessarily the same thing you’d typically wear. For maternity, most of my clients wear a long dress and then change into something more casual (chiffon, sheer, lace look great on moms!). I also have maternity gowns available to slip on during the session. For newborn sessions, parents wear neutral and comfortable clothing like cotton or linen shirts/dresses/skirts.

Will I get the digital files after the shoot?

Yes! Photographs grow in value over time and become a family treasure – I want you to have all your memories. I offer one simple all inclusive collection where you get all the high resolution digital files delivered via direct download in an online gallery. Black and white versions of each image are also included. You also have the option to buy professional prints and albums in my online store.

How far out do you book?

I typically book out one to three months in advance. If you’re interested in a newborn session please inquire while you’re still pregnant. Already delivered? No problem! I try and leave availability in my schedule for newborns.

How much does this all cost?

My pricing is simple and easy. All edited high resolution images are yours to keep and print! A deposit is due when booking to hold your session date. Also, please note I’m a business so state tax is charged on all transactions.
